Originally we noticed there were no inclusive parks near us where Madison would have been able to play. As a result, we immediately started close to home. This meant we were talking to Sterling Ranch and Douglas County, begging for them to add some sort of inclusive park in our growing community. After many great meetings and discussions, I am happy to say that that park is now being built. To do this we partnered with both Sterling Ranch and Douglas County to fund the new Prospect Village Inclusive Playground. Currently, we are working with Sterling Ranch on the design of that playground. Using our insight to come up with a design that is not only great for kids who need different types of equipment but is just as fun for everyone else so that the whole community can come to this park and play together.

We have also secured commitments from the Sterling Ranch Developer and Community Authority Board that all future parks built in Sterling Ranch will feature inclusive elements. This is a massive win for our community and we are so thankful to Sterling Ranch for making such a bold commitment. This will be just another amazing thing about this community that continues to set it apart!

Looking ahead, we are focusing on the rest of Douglas County. We know that there are many other inclusive park deserts in our neighboring communities and as much as we want to welcome all families to the incredible parks we are building here. We want to make sure they have a suitable place to play closer to home as well!
